WorldRecordTrifleAttempt!
Swansea Bay is planning a joyful world record charity trifle attempt in the natural sand bunker at Swansea seafront — raising money for local causes with sponsors, suppliers and volunteers still welcomed.
Extra sponsors are welcomed.
We’re opening a limited number of headline, layer and local supporter packages for businesses that want to help make this world record charity attempt happen.

The proposed event is designed to look bold and memorable while keeping the actual build practical: measured trifle footprint, existing sand bunker, food-safe liner, donated ingredients and controlled public access.
| Target trifle scale | 3.3 tonnes |
| Estimated servings | 15,000 |
| Ingredients — retail cost | £7,067 |
| Event infrastructure and safety — retail cost | £9,900 |
| Contingency / waste buffer | £1,697 |
| Full retail build | £18,663 |
| Realistic charity model: ingredients donated + 50% infrastructure sponsored | £5,445 |
| Retail cost per portion | £1.24 |
Planning basis: prices researched June 2026. Best-case sponsored model falls to about £1,089 if ingredients are donated and 90% of infrastructure is sponsored.
Current Planning Boards
Draft public-facing summaries for the build and safety approach. Final layouts, date, capacity and operating plan will be confirmed after permissions and safety sign-off.
Record attempt, practical build.
The concept uses the existing seafront sand bunker, a food-safe liner and controlled batch layering so the spectacle stays achievable, safe and sponsor-friendly.
- Proposed trifle footprint to be confirmed by site survey
- Ingredient partners and serving equipment still needed
- Final quantities depend on record-body guidance and permissions
- Build schedule to be confirmed once the event date is locked
Big crowd, clear controls.
The public plan keeps production, viewing, serving and emergency movement separate, with stewards and first aid built into the event before promotion scales up.
- Food-production area kept staff-only
- Public viewing and donation flow kept separate from serving
- Emergency access route kept clear at all times
- Weather and wind thresholds to be agreed before launch
How We’ll Build It
A simple, safe build sequence that keeps the trifle in the actual landscape and avoids unnecessary construction.
Prepare bunker
Clear, level and mark the sand bunker beside the former lifeguard tower.
Install tarp
Lay heavy-duty food-safe tarp, overlap seams and secure with sandbags.
Layer trifle
Add jelly, sponge, custard, cream, fruit and toppings in controlled batches.
Raise money
Open public viewing, collect donations and serve portions safely from stations.
